Avengers Age of Ultron

Dear Readers

Avengers Age of Ultron.

Once more Marvel’s characters band together as the Avengers to tackle, this time a seemingly man-made problem. What starts as one man’s good idea and intentions may not always be the best.

Avengers 2 has already opened and to great success. It seems Marvel really does have the right formula at the moment. The story is straight out the comics, it is well-balanced, well scripted and has enough of everything for everyone. The cast, really are into their respective roles now, they appear at ease with each other sharing screen time. It does work.

Like one of the comics, this story has twists which does not disappoint. It also allows the characters to continue to explore. Stark pushes his desire to protect, against the advice of others. But his plan is taken up by Banner (The Hulk) and for a time it seems impossible. Fate, fluke call it what you will but of course things happen. I wont tell what happens in the story as that will spoil the fun.

What this movie does is take another step further to cement Marvel’s position as the number one comic franchise. Once more the movies cinematography was excellent, the effects wonderful and the music just blended without being over the top. There is an Avengers theme, which you can recognise without wondering. It just all fits together perfectly. There are some obvious moments and the script allows all the characters to explore much more without slowing anything down.

Marvel certainly has the edge over its rival DC in a big way. They just have something more, they have that winning formula in the movies. DC has some very good TV programs, but the movies fail each time. Either the plot, the character or more. Even as Batman V Superman was announced what they meant was Justice League of America. So why give such a big movie a lame title? Marvel knew full well that The Avengers had to be The Avengers. Despite the set up in various other movies; IronMan,  Thor and Captain America – Marvel got it right.

They even picked the right actors to the right characters. Maybe planning this for years in advance, take Robert Downey Jr for example as Tony Stark. You can actually believe they are the same person. Each actor fits perfectly with their respective Marvel character. Maybe that is part of Marvel’s success compared with DC. You believe the characters are real. Even in the action sequences comparing the last 15 minutes of Man of Steel against the new Avengers movie. It was boring where as Avengers has the edge of the seats moments. Marvel shows how to mix action and not let it become tiresome.

As for a rating, for me this movie is 5/5. Would I watch it again, yes and I will buy the Blu-ray. It is that good.
